The Lipstick Lesbian Tape
Okay, I don't have a picture of the Lipstick Lesbian Tape. In fact I had to give back the camera I was borrowing for this website. But I'm sure you have the imagination to picture a TDK cassette tape with a label that simply reads, Lipstick Lesbian (The Early Years).
The reason I chose this object to write about is because it's the only one of it's kind. As a musician, I've amassed enough electronic tape to wrap around the earth at least two times. But this is the only tape that exists of two friends of mine, Michelle and Ron, who formed a duo called Lipstick Lesbian. They sang many silly songs and were a hoot to see live, but you won't see them live again too soon. This tape has survived many moves and much blight. It never seems to get lost, like most other tapes. It's the only copy there is. Here's a couple of songs from it. I'm so glad to be able to save this for posterity and offer it to you. (Next thing I need to do is find my Inspector 12 tape...)
I had Michelle sing this first song at my CD release party way back in 1998. I'll never understand why this first song, "What's So Wrong?" was never a major hit. It's a catchy tune and has a great message for the ages. Everytime I hear it I grin from ear to ear. I'm not sure why. It's just an all around feel good song that everyone should hear.
And here's a fun song, too.
One of these days I'll get around to posting the entire tape for you.
